Date-sensitive item pricing

It would be good if item prices had a validity date-from and date-to. By default it could be forever, but if you want to have a future price rise configured into the system, there appears to be no easy way to see what the old price was, when it changed, and at what date the new price became effective for all invoices generated after that date.
