Make the payment reference field required or auto assign a number

Since payments must have a reference field value to use the spreadsheet importer to make bulk updates, the field should be required

Alternatively, we could include the payment ID in payment exports and use that as the criteria to update or delete an existing record. Some users assign the same reference number to multiple payments, or they don't use reference numbers at all. Using the ID would minimize errors and prevent scenarios where customers have to manually delete records one by one.
